Out of 5 sexy Winks...I give this product a solid 4 Winks.
Do you like to indulge in a good eyeliner? Yes? Then look no further, Glad Lash has their Eyeliner for Eyelash Extensions! The cool piece about this product is that it's not just for the extension wearer...but also for the everyday lady (or gentleman) who likes to spice things up with a solid, richly rimmed eye makeup look. The Glad Lash eyeliner is waterproof, glides on with ease and wears all day! This liner is super similar to the Chanel waterproof liner but is a 1/3 of the cost ! It also comes in 3 shades...Rich Black, Caramel Brown and Starry Night. Even those names scream..."Yes, a night out....I will take it!" By the way, my fave is Starry Night...a deep blue hue to swoon over. These eyeliners are great for those who want the intensity without the hassle. Oh, did I mention it comes with a handy pencil sharpener? It's not my personal favorite but still convenient :))

We don’t just care about the aesthetics of your eyelashes, we care about the health of your eyes and your vision, especially if your lashes are hiding behind prescription glasses for near and farsightedness. That’s why we thought we’d tell you about pinhole glasses, which have been shown to help improve vision problems. There’s even some cute and inexpensive pinhole glasses to choose from these days, so you can correct your vision in style!
The Downside to Prescription Glasses
Prescription glasses are a godsend for those with less than perfect 20/20 vision, but although they correct your vision in the short term, they actually do more damage in the long run. Prescription glasses focus your eyes for you instead of teaching your eyes to focus on their own. According to the experts, nearsightedness is made worse by the use of concave prescription lenses. In fact, studies indicate that after just half an hour of wearing concave lenses, a child’s eyesight is dramatically weaker once the glasses are removed! Long-term prescription wear has been called out for permanently damaging eyes, even causing serious complications like detached retina.
We’re not suggesting you ditch your prescription eyeglasses cold turkey…especially if you’re operating heavy machinery, like a car! But how about adding pinhole glasses to the mix to see if you can possibly treat your weakened eyesight, rather than just masking it with lenses? Pinhole glasses train your eyes to focus for themselves, thereby strengthening eyesight with consistent use. You don’t need a prescription, and the same pair of pinholes works no matter your vision problem.
Add Some 50's Flare to Your Eye-wear!
Pinhole glasses were introduced in the 50's, and have improved dramatically since. They are made from plastic or metal, and dotted with tiny pinholes measuring 0.9 to 1.2 mm in diameter and spaced horizontally and vertically 3 mm apart.
Vision is blurry if your eyes aren't able to focus incoming light rays onto a tiny point on your retina (the rays instead hit either in front or behind the retina, thus blurring vision). Pinhole glasses direct the light rays to the center of your pupil, thereby strengthening your eyes and helping to repair vision disorders—from near and farsightedness, to cataracts and astigmatism. Rather than refocusing the eye (as prescription glasses do), pinhole glasses lessen the size of the blurred circles so that your eyesight gradually corrects. Even ophthalmologists use pinhole glasses to diagnose refractive disorders during eye exams!
And you don’t need to suffer from vision loss to benefit from pinhole glasses. They make great sunglasses, and when worn for just 10 minutes a day can help you maintain your perfect 20/20 vision throughout your life. So get a little funky and help boost a pinhole glasses trend! At least for those moments when you’re not showing off your eyelash extensions.
An ancient elixir that’s enjoyed a surge of popularity, argan oil hails from Morocco and has been dubbed “liquid gold.” So, what’s the scoop? Is argan oil really a beauty buff’s best friend?
While you may not be able to enjoy the latest gossip with it, argan oil will do you a steady solid when it comes to priming your skin, nails and hair for radiance. The oil is extracted from the nuts of the argan fruit tree. Even better, it’s sourced from female-run cooperatives, so purchasing the oil is lending a hand to sisterhood.
Hydrate and Balance
Don’t be offended by the “oil” in argan oil. A few drops of argan oil massaged gently into the skin absorbs quickly and leaves no greasy film behind. Compounds called sterolins help seal in moisture, while unsaturated fatty acids leave skin silky smooth. Argan oil is an oil-balancer, meaning it takes care of dryness, flakiness and itchiness by stimulating just the right amount of sebum (oil) and trimming away the excess oil in oily skin. Yep, you guessed it…argan oil is perfect for combination skins that are dry in some areas, and oily in others.
What’s good for the face is good for the hair. A few drops of argan oil will help mend split ends, combat dryness, boost shine and even tackle scalp-health issues like dandruff! Oh, and did we mention it helps strengthen nails, too? A handy cuticle softener!
Protect Against Aging
Argan oil helps us look youthful no matter our biological age. It is loaded with antioxidants, including the skin vitamin—vitamin E. Antioxidant protection prevents the oxidative damage from UV radiation and environmental toxins that leads to accelerated aging. Argan oil is also packed with fatty acids like linoleic acid, which strengthens skin cells and elasticity.
Sensitive Skin Soother
As a 100% natural moisturizing agent, argan oil is appropriate for sensitive skins and sensitive parts of the face. Use it to safely remove eye makeup without damaging your eyelash extensions. If you suffer from skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, or dermatitis, you may finally get the relief you crave with topical application of argan oil.
Wait…You Can Ingest It?
Yes, you can actually use it as you would olive oil…it’s that pure! There’s not a ton of research regarding supplementing with argan oil, but what’s out there indicates that it can help protect against heart disease and osteoarthritis, high blood pressure and diabetes. So, drink up!
Beauty is an inside job. No seriously, science says so. You may have found your favorite eyelash extensions and mastered the dewy glow, but these beauty tricks are only superficial fix-its without the secret ingredient—happiness.
Researchers at University College London discovered that perhaps the most potent beauty and anti-aging weapon is actually a very popular emotion! Results of the study showed that middle-aged men and women from the United Kingdom who reported being happy with their lives on a day-to-day basis exhibited healthier levels of chemicals and hormones than adults who reported feeling fewer positive emotions. Apparently, the happier you are, the lower your cortisol levels. Cortisol is known as “the stress hormone” and chronically elevated levels are associated with virtually every modern chronic disease, from heart disease to cancer! Not to mention, too much cortisol leads to premature aging. No thank you!
Unfortunately, life can be difficult, and happiness isn’t always so easy to come by…which is why it’s important to cultivate happiness from within. In order to feel happy on a regular basis, it’s necessary to stop depending on outside circumstances as the source of your happiness. Just like beauty, happiness is an inside job.
Get to Know (and Like) Yourself
You’re a pretty cool gal, rather you realize it or not. Your parents love you, your friends love you and hopefully you love yourself, too! If not, it’s time to start liking yourself, no matter your quirks or your perceived imperfections. Appreciate your eccentricities—they’re what make you an individual. That gap in your front tooth or those freckles in all the wrong places? Embrace them! They add to your beauty and uniqueness. When you can look in the mirror and be happy with what you see (on the outside and on the inside) you will be that much more impervious to unforeseeable outside circumstances that occasionally rock your world.
Go with the Flow
You’ll be constantly knocking up against challenges, and unhappiness, if you approach life in a rigid, inflexible manner. Life happens, people will disappoint you, you won’t get everything you want, and the more you can accept the ebb and flow of good and bad, the happier you will be overall. So rather than having a temper tantrum, just let those waves carry you over the turbulence…sooner or later you’ll return to calm waters.
Be Alone, Not Lonely
At some point in your life you are going to be alone. Happy people know how to be alone without being overcome by loneliness. Learn how to sit with yourself, how to be alone with your thoughts and how to be entertained by your own company. Discover activities you enjoy doing alone, whether it’s hiking up a mountain or kayaking down a stream. You’re never alone when you’re in good company…just you and you.
Go Ahead…Brag a Little
Celebrate your success. You’ve earned it! Treat yourself to a massage when you complete that project you’ve been working so hard on. And don’t hesitate to let other people you trust know you’re a rockstar. Brag a little, and you’ll dip into feelings of gratitude. Gratitude calls in more of the good stuff to be grateful for. Keep reminding yourself that you have many, many things to be happy about.
Move Your Body
Exercise activates endorphins, those feel-good hormones that tell us everything is right with our world. Staying active also keeps you in tune with your body and its needs. So next time your sulking on the couch, shake it off, get out there and move your booty. Your body will zap those negative thoughts from your mind and remind you to be present and engaged with the world…happily so. :)
To know me as a person & as a makeup artist, is to know that I absolutely LOVE mascara!! I buy all kinds, try them all, layer them, switch them up to see which combination gives the most dazzling and voluminous effect. But, when it comes to extensions....the mascara issue becomes a bit tricky. In this instance, you cannot use regular or waterproof mascaras. Since the objective with extensions is to give the illusion that your lashes are real, voluminous and that they already have mascara on them.
Sooooo, in walks the best alternative for lash extension wearers out there, it's Max2 "Volume Up" Mascara. This mascara is perfect for that added touch!I worked on a bride a few weeks ago with beautiful extensions by none other than the Director of Glad Lash Inc. herself, Esther. She gave the bride this special water-based mascara with herbal extracts specifically formulated for extensions. I of course am always up for attaining any new "Mascara News" so we tried it and it looked amazing!!
To ensure a gentler application, I applied the mascara with a fan brush instead of a mascara wand. For special occasions or for the mascara and lash obsessed, thank God for this product- you can get the best of both worlds. This product is something to look into and try. I was thrilled that I had the chance to use it and see the effects first-hand. Note, always make sure the mascara is not goopy or dried out....this means that it's time to replace the mascara. I want you to get your money's worth out of any product so please check first to see. Lash On, Lovers- Heather :)

When it comes to makeup trends, 2014 is not the summer for pastels. It’s time to go brash and bold with a pop of neon and some eyelash flair. Play around with the runway trends below!
Rather than a deep wintry purple, color your eyelids with shades of lavender, lilac and orchid. If your skin tone can handle it, have some fun with purple-tinted blush or lip gloss. Pick one feature to highlight with purple and wear it with passion!
Sure, soft pink lips are always acceptable in summertime, but the warm weather is trending toward hot pinks and neon orange. Chose lipstick with a velvety matte finish. If you aren’t daring enough to go bold and bright on your lips, then paint your nails with a pop of neon and you’ll still be making a statement!
Line Those Eyes
You can’t go wrong with shades of blue this summer—especially aquatic teals! You can subtly line or go all out and shade your eyes top and bottom with a shadow liner.
White liner is also making a comeback this summer, both on the top and bottom lashes. We think white liner coupled with some of that hot neon lipstick is quite the trend-setting look!
When lining your eyes with black, go for bold, angular geometric shapes that take the cat-eye to a whole other level!
Bust Out and Strip
Eyelashes are all the rage this summer. To get the in-style, doe-eyed retro 60s look, apply eyelash extensions or strip lashes to both the top and bottom lashes. This look especially complements the barefaced trend that’s returning this summer. Just a clean, clear face dusted lightly with a golden bronzer, topped off with some feathery lashes. Try any of our Strip Lashes from our Delicate Collection. Oh, and we almost forgot! Pair it with some bright neon yellow nail polish for a frisky finish.
Summertime is playtime, and a time to celebrate your personal style. So give that makeup bag a makeover with some hot new colors that speak to your unique personality and panache.
Hi Lash Lovers,
I'm back for another segment of 'Get The Look'! I am super excited to give the beauty breakdown of a Beautiful Bride I did recently.
The Bride sent me some pics of what she thought would look Bridal-licious on her and I think after her makeup consultation plus tweaking a couple of things, we achieved just the perfect Bridal Beauty look for her.
1. Prep the Skin
I use vegan eye cream from 100% pure line...just a little dab will do ya. Pat under the eyes using your ring finger, so as to be as delicate as possible for that area of the face. This caffeine enriched product should de-puff and hydrate at the same time....if that doesn't work...have bride use an ice cube and run the cube over the under eye area a couple times if puffy. :))
Depending on skin and texture, I always moisturize with Embryolisse and/or a Primer. I used Makeup Forever's Mattifying Primer on her T-Zone to control oiliness throughout the evening.
Prep the eye area with Urban Decay Original Primer for staying power.(Love this stuff)
Next I used a Bobbi Brown highlight color palette (Sandwash Eye Palette) that is just an amazing little palette of radiance....used Sunshine shimmer on lids. Also I brought this color into the inner corners of the eye to give the illusion that she is more awake and that her eyes are farther apart.
Over the peach color I used Metallic Peach from Stila on her lids (this is a metallic color but the consistency is not a powder shadow per se because the texture is extremely malleable and amazing. But had to put it on with my finger and not the mixing medium it comes with which is fine) but this just made her eyes pop!
I used the Naked 3 palette from Urban Decay and brushed on Limit onto the creases and blended, then used Factory and Liar on the outer corners to really draw the eye up and out.
Then, Kohl eyeliner in Costa Riche from Mac on the upper lids and soften line and used I Get No Kick Liner from Mac on lower lash line to once again brighten the eye area and make the whites of her eyes appear more white. (a trick of the trade)
Used Laura Mercier Noir Gel Liner on a straight edge brush and transferred it onto the upper lash line...whatever was left over from this with a little mix of Factory and Liar from above was brought a bit under her lower lashes.
Her lashes were enhanced with extensions from our very own Esther Bolkin, the Director of Glad Lash! She wore single strand lashes in our Signature Mink C Curl .20 x 9, 10 and 11mm. They were absolutely perfect...looked so natural and beautiful. I also used Glad Lash's mascara that is intended for eyelash extensions (Excellent Volume Up Mascara in Black)....woohoo! Glad Lash thinks of everything! Because finishing off an eye makeup with mascara is just a necessity in my opinion. :)) ** I do recommend putting the mascara on with a small fan brush if you have because it's a more delicate application than the mascara wand itself, but that is my opinion.
Now that her face has been able to sit with the moisturizer/primer on it for a bit...it's showtime with the highlighting. I used YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch in 2.5 on her cheeks, forehead, nose as well as the area in-between her nose and middle of her upper lip, and chin. Then blended with a Beauty Blender with is the best!
Used Makeup Forever's HD foundation in N120 on her and Amazing Cosmetics concealer in Medium Gold for under eyes. Blended it all onto the skin so it looked seamless. And of course always blend into the next area as well. Again, blended with Beauty Blender.
Cream Blush...the bride loved the look of pink cheeks so that's exactly what I gave her! This was perfection on her skin tone, Mac Sweet William which is a luminescent cream blush I added to the apples of her cheeks and blended up. Once powdered, I used Benefit's Hoola on cheek bones to address the contouring. Also added a bit of Hoola onto temples and under chin so light is absorbed in those areas.
Anastasia Waterproof Gel on brows and filled in with Mac's Soft Charcoal and Browning. Highlight brows with the highlight color in this palette.
Mac Dervish Lip Liner
Too Faced Melted Peony lip color (Obsessed with these long wearing colors)
Mac Dazzle Glass in 'Steppin Ou't on top for a pop of sheen.
As a makeup artist, I have said it before, it's not an easy job to take someone's vision and turn it into a reality especially on their wedding day...but when a bride looks in the mirror when the makeup application is over and the look of sweet 'JOY' is apparent, then my job is done...and only then. :))

Your eyes are the windows to your soul—they’re also the mirror to your age…and sometimes to the raucous good time you had last night! Bloodshot eyes, wrinkly undereye skin, dark circles and puffiness not only defy your age, but also speak to late nights and poor nutrition. Disguise your age and your partying with the following anti-aging eye remedies.
Whether your eyes are puffy and red from a late-night studying session or a night on the town, doesn’t matter. What matters is that you hide the evidence…and fast! Apply a cold compress to ease the swelling and red eye. You can use the old-fashioned trick of a cold cucumber, or you can apply a cold tea compress. Caffeinated teas like green and black help constrict blood vessels to zap away puffiness and firm the skin around the eyes. If your eyes are red and irritated, best to apply a cold herbal compress, like anti-inflammatory chamomile or peppermint.
Speaking of anti-inflammatories, a cold dose of aloe vera should reduce puffiness in no time! Keep a tub of aloe vera gel in the freezer. Let it thaw for 10 minutes, and then massage under your eyes for a quick fix. While you’re at it, treat those eyes to an at-home salt solution to reduce redness and irritation. Combine boiled, distilled water with a half teaspoon of salt. Using an eye dropper, rinse out eyes.
Be Cool Must-Haves
Give the skin around your eyes a little TLC by treating it to a milk (or soy milk) bath. Soak a cotton ball with milk and gently press to your eyes and the surrounding skin. You’ll be amazed by how soft and silky skin appears. The anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties (including a mega-dose of vitamin A) help soften fine lines and dark circles.
Be Soft Must-Haves
The thin skin under your eyes always needs some extra attention. Apply an anti-aging, hydrating eye cream morning and evening. You can also make your own eye cream with coconut oil and vitamin E. Coconut oil moisturizes while it helps turn over old skin cells to make room for the new. Daily application will minimize wrinkles, and, with an SPF factor of 4, even help protect against the sun.
Vitamin E is the go-to skin vitamin, and certainly lives up to its reputation. It diminishes fine lines, protects with antioxidants, and helps reduce dark circles. Mix some coconut oil with vitamin E oil and massage under the eyes daily. The oil has the tendency to drift up into the eyes, so massage until absorbed.
Be Gentle Must-Haves
Don’t forget to keep your eyelash extensions clean and remove those strip lashes and eye makeup! Raccoon eyes from last night’s makeup leftovers will make your morning fix-it routine that much more difficult!
It’s your big day, and there’s no room for mishap. Everything is perfect—the dress, the flowers, the groom—and your makeup should be too! So we’ve got some tips for you bride-to-bes, from what type of eyelash extensions to wear, to how to keep your makeup looking fresh and natural all the way from “I do” to bidding your guests a fond “adieu.”
Preparing Your Canvas
Tip #1: Keep some oil-free blotting sheets handy. Rather than blotting away oil and sweat (we’re assuming you’re cutting a rug on the dance floor) with powder, which only makes you look cakey and overdone, keep your canvas oil-free with some blotting sheets.
Tip #2: On your wedding day you truly are center-stage. Apply a bit more makeup than you normally would to avoid looking blown out in your wedding photos. Keep it natural and classy, but go for a tad more pop.
Tip #3: You’re wearing white, so it’s absolutely imperative to protect against makeup smudges! Use a primer, especially an eyeshadow primer, to keep those colors off your dress. Dab a tad of makeup remover on a Q-tip to fix any smudges.
Tip #4: Keep those cheeks soft and romantic. Rather than going for Maleficent cheekbones, add a soft touch of blush to the apples of your cheeks and blend out to your temples.
Tip #5: Keep your eyes bright and awake by adding a touch of shimmer to the inner corner of your eyes. You can apply dark shadows to the outer edges of your eyes, but keep the colors light on the inside!
Tip #6: Don’t forget those eyebrows. Your eyebrows frame your eyes, so be sure to fill them in softly with an eyebrow pencil or powder.
Tip #7: It’s your wedding day—expect some tears and plan accordingly. To ensure a tear-resistant face, use waterproof makeup everywhere. Rather than applying mascara that’s sure to run down your face with those joyful tears, apply eyelash extensions.
Say “I Do” to Eyelash Extensions
Whether you’re going for Hollywood glamour or flirty romantic, it’s a good idea to splurge on eyelash extensions. Three varieties are suitable for your bridal needs:
Synthetic: Glad Lash Salon Professional Mink lashes are ideal if you are looking for exact sizing with individual lashes.
Silk: Made of raw silk synthetic fiber, Glad Lash silk lashes are flexible and uber-soft, and come in a variety of lengths and thickness.
Mink: Glad Lash offers 100% authentic, cruelty free Siberian Mink for the most natural look and comfortable feel.
We recommend experimenting with lash extensions at least a month before your wedding to make sure you get the look you want. If you are new to falsies, you’ll want the dress rehearsal to get comfortable and used to not pulling, twisting or tugging on your new lashes.
Your Honeymoon and Beyond
The beauty of going for extensions over strips or flares is that they last through your honeymoon, no compromise needed. You can swim, sunbathe, dive, whatever activities you and your honey have planned!
During your honeymoon give your lash extensions some TLC by keeping them moisturized. Use one of Glad Lash’s aftercare coating sealants to help protect and moisturize your extensions. Our “Longer Life” Coating Sealant in Clear or Black protects your lashes from water, sweat, dirt and more! Give your lashes a rest at night by sleeping on your back, and brush them out gently with a disposable mascara wand occasionally.
Congratulations on your wedding, beautiful…may you have many happy years together!
Sure, we’ve got chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and lasers to zap fine lines, eradicate acne, and rejuvenate skin…but sometimes a good ole fashioned beauty trick works just as well—and is free, free, free! Why not keep things simple with a restorative facial steam? Soaking in some steam helps clear away acne, softens and moisturizes skin, and even releases sinus pressure and nasal congestion.
Our skin cells are programmed to regenerate every 28 days…when we’re young. The older we get, the more those skin cells cling to the skin’s surface, refusing to make way for new skin cells. Skin starts to take on a dull finish, lines become permanent, and skin feels dry and taut. It needs our help to slough away the old skin cells and make room for the new. A facial steam does just that!
No matter how well you clean your skin, there’s debris trapped under the surface that you can’t see. And it’s wreaking all sorts of havoc on your skin! A weekly facial steam dislodges the impurities so you can enjoy blemish-free skin. The heat from a facial steam causes you to sweat. Sweat is essentially 99% water. Perspiration washes away toxins, impurities, trapped bacteria and dirt that’s settled deep into your pores.
There’s a particular kind of acne that’s especially bothersome—blackheads! Your skin produces a natural oil called sebum in the sebaceous glands of your hair follicles. These follicles easily become clogged by excess sebum and bacteria, leading to breakouts and blackheads. A facial steam is an effective means of freeing that trapped dirt and oil.
Your skin quite literally breathes easier during and after a facial steam. The heat from the steam gets your circulation pumping and directs it to the skin. Blood vessels expand and increase blood flow, delivering nutrients and oxygen to skin cells and tissue. Take a look at your skin after a facial steam, and be prepared to be impressed by the radiant glow you see staring back at you in the mirror!
It’s well known that a hot shower can make you feel better when you’re sick by opening up your nasal cavities, releasing congestion, and soothing coughs and sore throats. A facial steam imparts the same benefit, loosening mucus so that you can breathe freer. Here’s a tip: add a few drops of eucalyptus essential oil to your facial steam. The properties of eucalyptus help soothe inflammation.
How to Steam
Steam for five to seven minutes and finish off with a cold water splash. Apply a hydrating moisturizer (the skin is primed to absorb all the good stuff) and top off your fresh look with some soft, natural eyelash extensions!
All it takes is a once-a-week facial steam to keep your skin looking and feeling its best!
